José Luis Alonso Trejo (born November 1958) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since April 2011. He is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.

Alonso was born in Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico. He lived primarily in Mexico City until he was 15 when he moved back to Cuautla to live with his father, Luis Alonso. The older Alonso had already joined the LDS Church and through the influence of his father and meeting with the LDS Church missionaries, Jose Alonso also joined the church. It was as a youth in Cuautla that he met Rebeca Salazar, who he later married in the Mesa Arizona Temple less than a year after he completed his full-time missionary service. He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Mexico Hermosillo Mission.

Alonso was trained as a homeopathic physician and surgeon at Escuela Libre de Homeopatia de Mexico and then received a degree in pediatrics from the National Institute of Pediatrics in Mexico City. He worked in medicine and also as an institute director for the Church Educational System.

Alonso has served as a bishop. Alonso was the first president of the Oaxaca Mexico Mitla Stake when it was created in 1996.[1] He later served as president of the Mexico Tijuana Mission from 2002 to 2005. He then served as an area seventy until he became a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy in April 2011. For part of the time Alonso was an area seventy, he served as a counselor in the Mexico North Area Presidency.

Alonso and his wife are the parents of two children.
